“When we resist change, it’s called suffering. But when we can completely let go and not struggle against it, that’s called enlightenment”
― Pema Chödrön, Living Beautifully: with Uncertainty and Change
Negative experiences are an unfortunate, but common part of life. The negative emotions that accompany those experiences can be distressing. Learning to lean into those unpleasant feelings rather than ignoring or getting stuck in them can help us heal and grow. I maintain a deep belief in a person’s capacity to change, despite—and because of– the challenges faced in life. You are the expert of your own life, and together we can collaborate to find a way to best meet your needs and facilitate growth.
I practice with an emphasis on empathy, unconditional positive regard, and understanding the unique needs of the individual client. My hope is you will find me to be authentic, real and approachable. Opening up to a stranger can be intimidating and uncomfortable at times but you can trust that I care and will listen without judgment.
I utilize a variety of modalities including: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
Areas of interest:
Anxiety and Depression in all ages
Sexuality and Gender Identity
