“You can’t go back and change the beginning but you can start where you are and change the ending.”
~ C.S. Lewis
Hi!
I’m Maggie Shumpert and I am so excited to be working with you or your children!
I love this C.S. Lewis quote. because it reminds us that life is truly a journey. The same can be said about the counseling process. I view counseling as a journey to a healthier, happier you. Changing the past isn’t possible, but learning how to address it and past traumas can help us as individuals be more successful and healthy in the future.
I want my clients to know and understand that although counseling is work, and very hard work at times, it’s so worth the work. I want them to view themselves as worth the work, the time and the journey.
My hope is that my clients will leave each session feeling as though they have invested in themselves. Self-care is more important now than ever and therapy is just one aspect of self-care.
I have experience working with kids, teens, and adults. I have experience working with individuals with disabilities as well.
My areas of interest and experience are:
Children, adolescents
anxiety, depression, school issues, family stressors
Individuals with disabilities and their unique issues
Workplace confidence and success
Grief & Loss
Trauma
Anxiety/Depression
Infertility
Long-term/Terminal Illnesses – Individuals and Caretakers
